Ghorepani Trek(10 Days)

The trek starts from Nayapul after a short drive from Pokhara. The trail passes through rhododendron forest and fascinating traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk where you get a wonderful opportunity to witness ethnic Gurung culture and tradition. Along the way, there are spectacular views of the snowy peaks of the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri. This easy trek takes you to Ghorepani , at an elevation of 2775 meters. Ghorepani means "horse water" and is a popular watering spot for mules, which ply this route from Pokhara to Jomsom and beyond.

The trip can be done throughout the year except during monsoon [July & August].

Detailed itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu

As you arrive in Kathmandu, a representative from our office will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel you will be briefed about your daily activities.

Day 2 Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley

There will be a guided tour to the famous and biggest Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal Boudhanath, and Swoyambhunath. You will also visit the Basantapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.

DAY 3: Fly to Pokhara & trek to Birethanti [1075m]

During the flight, you get the most mesmerizing views of glorious Manaslu and the snow-capped Annapurna mountain range. We take a one-hour drive to Nayapul . From Nayapul we begin our trek. The route skirts through lush forest leading to Birethanti after walking for one hour. Birethani has well-resourced shops, hotels, cafes, a police check post, a bakery and a bank.

Day 4: Birethanti to Ghandruk [1940m]

Leaving Birethani, we take the trail along terraced fields . On passing a succession of flatlands, forest, terraced fields and a suspension bridge over Khumnu Khola, we arrive at the village of Ghandruk after walking for 3 to 4 hours. From here we get breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhare and Hiunchuli. There are several hotels and teahouses at the village.

Day 5: Ghandruk to Tadapani [2540]

We descend further along the trail with colorful rhododendron forests and clear mountain streams . After continuously climbing for 3 hours, we reach Tadapani at an altitude of 2540 meters. Tadapani offers the most magnificent mountain views of Annapurna South.

Day 6 Tadapani to Ghorepani [2880m]

Today you proceed along steep trails. There are magnificent views of snow-capped peaks and lush vegetation . You climb through rhododendron forest to Deorali [3100m] and continue walking for 3 hours till you find yourself in Ghorepani. Ghorepani literally means "horse water" and is a popular watering spot for mules, which ply this route from Pokhara to Jomsom and beyond.

Day 7 Ghorepani to Nayapul, drive to Pokhara

After enjoying the mesmerizing sights of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak and other Himalayan giants from the popular vantage point of Poon Hill [3195m], you leave Ghorepani and walk towards Nayapul. You further descend towards Birethanti. You pass through dense forest and the small village of Ulleri. From Ulleri, a very steep section [with 3767 steps!] leads down to Hille on the Bhurungdi Khola. Forty minutes beyond Birethanti, you come to the main road. Now you can easily access any means of transportation to drive to Pokhara. In the evening, you are free to wander by the lakes of Pokhara.

Day 8 Free day in Pokhara

You can spend your day in Pokhara as you like, you can either relax in your hotel or go for sightseeing . Pokhara is one of the most famous tourist destination in Nepal. Set amidst the spectacular backdrop of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchere, popular tourist sites include the Phewa Lake, Davis fall, Mahendra cave, the famous Seti Gorge, Bindabasini temple and Pokhara Mountain Museum.

Day 9 Fly or drive (optional) to Kathmandu

From Pokhara you can either fly or drive to Kathmandu.

Day 10 Depart Kathmandu

You will be driven to the airport for your flight home.
