Spring Special Trek to both base camps of Kanchenjunga is a challenging trekking adventure in Nepal that best suits to experienced trekkers who can endure the hardships that come across during the camping trek to Nepal’s remotest highlands.
The trek goes through Illam, which is the world’s best tea producer.The trek is long enough to exhaust trekkers, and hence patience is mandatory during the trek. However, the pleasant trails full of colorful species of rhododendrons and diverse species of birds offer you energy to go further towards the Base Camps of magnificent mountain of Jewels, Kanchenjunga, which is also the third highest peak in the world. The closest views of entire Kanchenjunga Himalayas along with Chumila Himalayan Range and Kumbakarna Glacier are the rewards noteworthy enough to remember rest of the life.
Additionally, the cultural aspects trekkers get to see throughout the trek is so fascinating and unique that every western trekker would instantly fall in love with the natives who are so content with their traditional culture despite of hardships of several kinds.
Mountains like Kanchanjunga (8598m), Yalungkhang (8509m), Jannu himal (7770m) etc can be found. Jannu Himal is considered as Holy Mountain so we don’t have authority to climb. Rivers like Mewa River, Kaveri River, etc are famous river in this region.
Detailed Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu, our company representative will be at the arrival gate holding your name card and waiting for you to drive to the hotel in Kathmandu. Our representative will help you till you check in at the hotel and then depart from the hotel.
After check in procedure, you are free to explore some of amazing UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Nepal.
In case of your willingness, you can visit our office within the Boudhanath while visiting Boudhanath stupa.
Flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur takes 45 mins driving in a private car/jeep takes 4 hrs to reach Ilam. Ilam is one of the famous tea gardens in the eastern region. Ilam tea is famous in the world.
In this day we drive along snaky way through the hilly forest beside we can spot small market and small town.
Today is the first day of hiking thought the Gousakhonda with its valley with high Himalayan forest. After walking for long day, at the very end of the day, will have to hike bit uphill where Amjilosa will be seen and overnight at the small Sherpa settlement at Amjilosa.
We should have to trek by the side of river Mewa and through Jungle. Some teahouses can be found at Phale. Our main destination is Gyabla which takes around 6 to 7 hrs to reach.
following the narrow snaky trail though jungle where we walk though Phole village. this is winter settlement for the people of Ghunsa. Here we will witness the only monastery of whole trek, your guide will take you a tour to the monastery.
Today we are visiting Ghunsa village and view mountain ranges. That can be most memorizing moment of the trek. Overnight stay at Ghunsa.
We should have to go through jungle and khola (river). It is bit difficult trail to reach Khambachen and it can be reach around 5 to 6 hrs.
On this day, we find no any tea houses on the trail. The trail goes uphill, narrow valley shore. We can see Kanchenjunga, Janu, Yalung Kang, etc. It takes around 4 to 5 hrs.
It takes around 6 hrs to reach Pang Pema/ North Base Camp and get back. Barren land. Overnight stay at Lonak.
Today you will witness spectacular mountains and cliffs when we pass through the descend hike.
The trail is uphill through jungle. Rhododendron and pine can be found. The trail is in ascending. It takes 5 to 6 hr to reach Selela.
Today, the trail goes through Crossing Mirgin pass (4700m).It is uphill then descending. We can see the beauty of Makalu, Kanchanjunga Etc. It takes 7 to 8 hrs to reach Cheram.
Narrow valley, can see the mountain ranges. We can see yak, mountain goat, mountain blue sheep, musk dear etc. It takes around 4 to 5 hrs to reach Ramche.
On this day we do hiking walk to Oktang South Base Camp. It takes around 2 hrs to reach there and ½ hrs to get back to Ramche.
Downhill straight jungle nearby Indian border Sikkim/Darjeeling. The trail goes downhill and normal. It takes around 7 to 8 hrs to reach Tortang.
Our next destination is Yamphudin. We can see jungle uphill up to Lashi danda then downhill. Teahouse at Lashidanda. It takes 8 hrs to reach our destination i.e. Yamphudin. It takes around 7 to 8 hrs to reach there.
Today you will hike though the Kabeli valley and kabali river on the side. The trail will leads you to the small Limbu settlement where you may have opportunity to explore different ethnic culture of Nepal.
You will hike thought the untamed forest and pasture that allows superb visit of the spectacular Kanchenjunga, Yalungkhang, and Ghabur Himal.
Today, the hike will be quite easy and you will be seeing amazing stunning picturesque panoramic view of snow capped mountains and experience the heard village life along the trek.
Today you will experience the civilization as you will be heading to the Taplejung which is the headquarter of Taplejung district. Overnight there.
Today you will be hiking downhill till you reach Tamur river. The trail will leads you through hilly forest along the way and you will spot local people’s settlement before Dovan. Dovean is small market bun to the surrounding villages.
Today you will be hiking uphill again with typical Nepali culture along the trek. There will be some phase of hike you will be walking though forest. This used to be the major trekking route towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp but now there is alternative route that makes this route much special as alternative route is being in used for trekkers.
Today you will be hiking along the wider range of rhododendron trees along the trail as this section of place is consider as major source of rhododendron. You will experience 27 different spices of rhododendron. You will have amazing picturesque view of Makalu range, further hiking uphill to the Manshen danda, you will have final view of Kanchenjunga range.
Today you will descend down though the villages along the way where you can experience the countryside lifestyle. This day we finished over trek and catch up the jeep afterwards to the Tumlingtar.
Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. Freshen up time and self exploration. You can visit several religious and historic places in Kathmandu.
Extra Day for in case of emergency. It can be used to cover the day of cancellation of flight or any sort of during the trek.
Promise to comeback again and departure from Nepal and arrival in concern destination.
