Detailed Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel located near the cultural heart of Kathmandu. Depending on your arrival time, you may stroll through the vibrant streets of Thamel or Boudhanath, enjoy your first Nepali meal, and rest up for the adventure ahead.
Today is a cultural immersion into the heritage of the Kathmandu Valley. You’ll visit the sacred Boudhanath Stupa, the hilltop Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and the revered Hindu temple of Pashupatinath. In the afternoon, your guide will review your gear and finalise trekking permits in preparation for your journey into the Himalayas.
A thrilling 30-minute flight takes you to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Upon landing, you’ll begin your trek through picturesque villages like Chheplung and Ghat, walking alongside the Dudh Koshi River. The trail is relatively gentle today as you descend slightly to Phakding for your first night on the trail.
Today’s walk leads you through pine and rhododendron forests, across high suspension bridges, and into Sagarmatha National Park. After lunch at Jorsalle, the trail climbs steeply, culminating with your arrival at Namche Bazaar. On a clear day, the first views of Mount Everest appear before reaching this lively Sherpa town.
To aid acclimatisation, you’ll hike to the Everest View Hotel (3880m), offering majestic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The trail continues to the villages of Khumjung and Khunde, where you’ll visit the Hillary School and Khunde Hospital—both established by Sir Edmund Hillary—before returning to Namche.
The trail climbs gently out of Namche with sweeping views of Everest and Ama Dablam. After a descent to the river at Phunki Thenga, a forested uphill path leads to the spiritual center of the Khumbu region—Tengboche. You’ll visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, which sits atop a panoramic ridge surrounded by Himalayan giants.
From Tengboche, descend through forests to Debuche and cross the Imja Khola. Passing through Pangboche—the highest year-round settlement—you’ll visit its ancient monastery. As you ascend into alpine terrain, you’ll reach Dingboche, a peaceful village surrounded by terraced fields and dramatic mountain views.
For acclimatization, you’ll hike above the Imja Valley to Nangkar Tshang, which offers panoramic views of Makalu, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. This high vantage point helps your body adapt to the altitude. Return to Dingboche for a restful afternoon and enjoy the mountain serenity.
The trail follows a gentle slope to Dughla, then climbs steeply to the memorials at Thukla Pass—honoring climbers lost on Everest. Continue along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier with views of Nuptse and Pumori before reaching the windswept settlement of Lobuche.
Begin with a gradual climb to Gorakshep, where you’ll have a short break before continuing to Everest Base Camp. The route follows the Khumbu Glacier over rocky terrain. At base camp, soak in the powerful atmosphere, surrounded by towering peaks and the notorious Khumbu Icefall, before trekking back to Gorakshep.
Start early for a sunrise ascent of Kala Patthar, the best viewpoint for Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks. After descending to Gorakshep for breakfast, you’ll continue your return journey, trekking downhill through glacial valleys to the village of Pheriche.
Retrace your steps through Pangboche and Debuche before climbing once more to Tengboche. This peaceful location gives you another chance to visit the monastery and enjoy an evening with striking views of Ama Dablam under the stars.
Descend to the river and ascend back to Namche along familiar trails. You’ll pass chortens, prayer wheels, and villages filled with smiling locals. Take the afternoon to rest, visit local cafes, or shop for unique souvenirs in the bustling market town.
Your final trekking day descends through Monjo, Phakding, and other small settlements before climbing back up to Lukla. Celebrate your successful journey with your guide and porters, and reflect on your epic adventure.
Enjoy a final aerial view of the Himalayas on your morning flight back to Kathmandu. After arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for rest, fresh food, or a relaxing massage.
This extra day is reserved for potential delays in the Lukla flight. If all goes as planned, enjoy a relaxing day in Kathmandu for souvenir shopping or exploring Bhaktapur or Patan. It’s also a day to reflect and celebrate your journey.
You’ll be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home. Depart with a heart full of memories and the spirit of the Himalayas in your soul.
